Janice Reid

Artist Bios:

Janice Reid (b. 1987) is a Canadian artist of Jamaican heritage based in Brampton, Ontario. Reid is a portrait photographer who received her diploma in creative photography from Humber College. Her photography focuses on the black subject, innovations in fashion, and the urban landscape.

 The artist explains, “I want my work to focus on telling the stories of invisibility of the Black community so that we can start to re-imagine and re-create our own narratives, collectively.” 

Janice has a colorful contemporary style that has been shaped by photographers and mixed media artists such as, Carrie Mae Weems, Lorraine O’Grady, and Oroma Elewa. Reid’s Real Love series has been exhibited at the Gladstone Hotel and the BAND Gallery in Toronto, Ontario.
